Err… I don’t know how to insert an image. Here’s a screenshot with the settings I used to make this work. Now do Format->Formatting->New Preset From Selection. Specifically, you want a paragraph that has the proper font, size, indentation, margins, and so on. Select a body paragraph that’s very exemplary. Why? Cause they can be copied on accident and you’ll have to remove them by hand.
If you have comments in the Word file-which I do since I’m handling copy edits-delete them. For me that means both of them have body text styles set to Times New Roman in the 12pt size. Make sure your MS Word file and your manuscript are as close a match as possible. (The silver lining is that I am learning a lot of grammar.)Īnyway, that’s not what you’re here for. Paste-Match-Style from MS Word to Scrivener will drop all italics and it’ll make all your quotes straight quotes. So if you’ve ever tried to do this, then you know what a pain it is.
